ABOUT CHRISTOPHER AUGUSTINE

My background includes stage, screen and music, with photography a big portion of that. I have belonged to 4 major unions, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, Actors Equity, and AF of M. I have produced several commercials, written four screen plays, directed a small movie, and became a successful crew member on commercials and films from the late 1990’s into 2024.

As I return to photography full time, I am excited to work with people in their careers, This means You!

HOW I GOT INTO PHOTOGRAPHY

I started seriously in the film business as a unit photographer on movies.  I joined APA (the Advertising Photographers of America) in Los Angeles. Working as an advertising photographer I had my own studio and business from 1980 through 1995. In 1995 I moved to film and television commercials until recently when I decided to return to the photography business.

MY VERY EARLY CAREER

Originally, I am from New York City and attended a Conservatory at NYU – The American Academy of Dramatic Arts.  I studied Acting and in my 2nd year, luckily, I got a lead role in a New York Art film – “Dal Segno” directed by Harry Mastrogeorge, a friend of John Cassavetes.  It won an award. My performance led to another movie “Encounter,” which was another art film, with a European Director. Next, I spent a year and a half working for the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park with Joe Papp.  I did four plays with them, including working with James Earl Jones.  In the following summers, I worked for 6 different Equity Summer Stock Companies all in New England as the Equity Juvenile lead.

As time went on music came calling and I got a recording contract with MGM records with my band, Every Mother’s Son.  We had a hit record.  After 2 years with that band, I moved to Los Angeles and Hollywood. I played music with lots of people who became famous, including Keith Carradine who won an Academy Award for best song of the year “I’m Easy”.But the best and most fun job in music was “The Captain & Tennille” – 35,000 people a night in stadiums across America.    This part of my career arc continued until 1980, when   I went back to school and studied photography, and found jobs in studios and shooting stills for movies and advertising.

And then there is this, I am currently enjoying resurgence of a movie I starred in during 1970 and it has become a Cult Classic throughout Europe and the U.S. and getting rave revues in Art Houses.  It is produced and directed by a woman, one of the first women directors and it’s released by GrindHouse Pictures.  You can find the info about it and read the reviews yourself.  But I’m in it and star in it and it has the only ending of it’s kind in all of moviedom.    “Hollywood …90028”.    You won’t believe the ending, One shot and only One take.

During a 15+ year period, my background has included studio and location shoots for film and still photography with both people and products.
